SXSW 2025: Between technology and people

At the begin­ning of March, Juliane laced up her sneak­ers and set off for one of the most excit­ing events on the inter­na­tion­al cre­ative and tech scene: South by South­west (SXSW) in Austin, Texas. Every year, this leg­endary fes­ti­val attracts leading minds from the worlds of inno­va­tion, technology, cul­ture, and the cre­ative indus­tries—and is con­sid­ered a hotspot for trends that will shape the future.

Togeth­er with BrandTrust, she immersed her­self in a vibrant expe­ri­ence that offered not only inspi­ra­tion but also clear prospects for the future. But this time, the mood was dif­fer­ent: the sole focus on technology is a thing of the past. The dis­cus­sions and pre­sen­ta­tions cen­tered on the sym­bio­sis of technology and human­i­ty—a con­nec­tion that sets new stan­dards for brand management, communication, and dig­i­tal trans­for­ma­tion.

Austin was once again trans­formed into a roar­ing cosmos of inspi­ra­tion, where future thinkers, tech vision­ar­ies and cre­ative minds from all over the world came togeth­er.

The key insight: instead of daring pre­dic­tions about the future, today it’s all about the essen­tial ques­tion of how we nav­i­gate into the future.

One topic shone par­tic­u­lar­ly bright­ly: SOCIAL HEALTH — the under­es­ti­mat­ed magic of gen­uine inter­per­son­al con­nec­tions.
After years of inten­sive dis­cus­sions about mental and phys­i­cal health, the power of social inter­ac­tion is now taking center stage.
The message to com­pa­nies is clear: if you want to sur­vive in the future, you need to create experiences that truly bring people togeth­er.

No less excit­ing: EMOTIONAL AI.
Arti­fi­cial intel­li­gence has long since learned not only to process data, but also to read the most subtle forms of human expres­sion. Plat­forms such as Rep­li­ka or Girlfriend.ai impres­sive­ly demon­strate how people are increas­ing­ly enter­ing into emo­tion­al rela­tion­ships with AI. But the fun­da­men­tal philo­soph­i­cal ques­tion remains: Can arti­fi­cial intel­li­gence devel­op gen­uine empa­thy — or are we just expe­ri­enc­ing a bril­liant illu­sion?
